L’album è stato registrato ai Rockfield Studios in Galles. Robert Smith ha creato il concetto di manica, e Andy Vella, un collaboratore di lunga data dei Cure, ha gestito l’arte e il design dell’album. La copertina presenta “Bagatelle”, una scultura del 1975 di Janez Pirnat.
